Ashton VSG debuted in 1999. The wrapper is a Sumatra seed leaf from a private estate in Ecuador, where cloud cover filters the sun, and it is fermented to a dark sheen. Under it are Dominican binder and filler tobaccos aged four to five years. The cigars are made by the Fuente family in the Dominican Republic.
Ashton rates VSG as full strength. The sizes carry names rather than numbers: Tres Mystique and Enchantment on the short side, Pegasus, Belicoso No. 1, Robusto, Eclipse and Wizard in the middle, and Torpedo, Sorcerer and Spellbound at the long end. Toro stocks most of these sizes in boxes, plus a VSG sampler.
